Exemptions let you indicate that a user is exempt from obtaining a specific certificate. This is useful when an employee already has the required knowledge or experience based on previous work experience or external certification.
Requirements
- You need administrator rights to manage exemptions.
- The user and certificate must already exist in the system.
Create an exemption

- Search for the user and click the edit icon.
- Go to the Certificates or Competency tab.
- Click Add exemption.

| Field | Description | Required |

View exemptions
Existing exemptions are visible in the user profile on the Certificates or Competency tab. Each exemption shows:
- The certificate to which the exemption applies.
- The reason for the exemption.
- The validity (including an end date, if applicable).
Edit or delete an exemption
- Open the user profile.
- Go to the Certificates or Competency tab.
- Select the exemption.
- Click Edit to change the details, or Delete to remove the exemption.
Note: Deleting an exemption means that the certificate is marked as required for the user again. This can affect the user's compliance status.
User self-service exemptions
Depending on the portal settings, users can request an exemption from their own profile. An administrator or manager must then approve the request.
