What is a Learning pathway?
A learning pathway is a training type within the catalogue that serves as a collection of different training definitions. It is not possible for users to register for a learning pathway. It enables administrators to display mandatory trainings for users in a grouped manner. The interface of a learning pathway consists of:
- Training details: Here your own description of the learning pathway is displayed.
- Tiles: Here all linked trainings are shown.
Users can simply click on a training to open it and register.
Completing a Learning pathway
After all mandatory trainings within a learning pathway have been completed, a user can, just like with Direct Learning trainings, use a 'Complete learning pathway' button to place the certificate of the learning pathway in their profile.
Additional Settings
On the management page of a learning pathway, an additional setting is available: 'Hide 'complete learning pathway' button'. This is intended for portals that use learning pathways in combination with a training programme.
Note: Completing a learning pathway does not automatically result in a certificate. Do you want to hide the button but still have a certificate generated automatically? Then implement a training programme. Contact our Customer Success Team for assistance.
Steps for Setting Up a Learning pathway
Required Rights
- Ensure you have the right 'Planning_Beheer_Trainingsdefinitie_Leertraject'.
Accessing Learning pathways
- Go to Planning > Trainings > Definitions. Here you get the option to create a new learning pathway, in addition to regular training definitions.
Configuration
Go to the 'Trainings' tab and specify:
- Which trainings should be in this learning pathway.
- Which trainings are mandatory for completion.
- The order in which the trainings must be completed.
Change the order of the trainings by dragging them with the arrows at the end of the row.
Visibility
- It is possible to make trainings only findable via a learning pathway. The status at training level can be set to 'Not in search results', but the training remains findable in the catalogue via the learning pathway. When the 'standalone' training is searched for in the catalogue, it will not be found. This functionality makes it possible to steer much more specifically towards following the complete learning pathway, and it keeps the catalogue 'clean' of standalone trainings that have no value on their own, but are only valuable as part of a learning pathway.
Restricting availability at training level, via department and/or function, is still possible and also affects whether or not the training is shown within the learning pathway.
