Trainings are organised into categories so they are easier to find and manage in the catalogue. When creating a training definition, selecting a training category is mandatory. A distinction is made between main categories and subcategories.
Creating a main category
- Go to Planning > Trainings > Categories in the menu.
- Click on Add main category.
- Enter a Name and Code for the main category.
- Click the Apply button.
After applying, the following tabs become visible:
Details, Translations, Training definitions, Training definitions – Secondary category, Purchased trainings and Purchased trainings – Secondary category.
Details tab
On this tab you can add an image:
- Click Gallery to select an image from the Academy gallery.
- Click Select file to upload an image from your local computer.
Translations tab
On this tab you can optionally enter a description and adjust the name of the category in other languages. In the language tabs you enter the correct translations of the category.
Training definitions tab
Here you can add existing trainings to the category.
These can be trainings:
- from your own portal (under Training definitions), or
- from Friend portals (under Purchased trainings).
The same applies to the Training definitions – Secondary category and Purchased trainings – Secondary category tabs.
The difference is that here the secondary category is considered, an optional extra category that can be assigned to a training.
Creating a subcategory
To create a subcategory, proceed as follows:
- Click the plus sign (Add) next to the relevant main category.
- Enter a Name for the subcategory.
- Click Save.
The subcategory is now added under the selected main category. After saving, you can, just like with main categories, use the available tabs to add or manage details, translations and linked trainings.
The order of the training categories can be adjusted. This order is reflected for the learner in the catalogue.
This is how it looks in the catalogue:
When a tile is clicked, all trainings belonging to both the parent category and the direct subcategories are displayed.
It is also possible to create a further subcategory within a subcategory. This allows employees to easily click through the subcategories via the tiles at the top, making it easier to search.
Creating one follows the same procedure as for a subcategory: click the plus sign (Add) next to the relevant subcategory instead of the main category, enter the name and click Save.
Note: all trainings located in subcategories and their underlying subcategories are displayed directly when the main category tile is clicked.
Want to unlink a category from a training? This can be done via the training definition of the relevant training.
There you can simply change the category by selecting a different category.
